1. Engine overheating
Causes:
Clogged radiator
Faulty thermostat
Air locks in the cooling system
Weak coolant pump
Consequences: overheating, deformation of the cylinder head, broken gasket
2. Camshaft and rocker arm wear
Causes:
Lack of oil / low oil pressure
Using non-original filters
Signs: metallic knocking from above, loss of power
3. Fuel system malfunctions
Typical problems:
Leaking or clogged injectors
Worn fuel injection pump
Air locks
Especially in versions with unit injectors (PDE)
4. EGR problems (if installed)
Valve sticking
Soot and contamination of the intake tract
This leads to loss of power, increased smoking
5. Oil leaks
Common:
Through the front and rear crankshaft seals
Through the valve cover
From the turbocharger (if installed)
6. Cracks in the cylinder head
Occur due to overheating or long-term driving on an overloaded car
Symptoms: coolant in the oil, white smoke, foam on the dipstick
7. Problems with the turbine (on turbocharged versions)
Bearing wear, pressure drop, noise
Causes: poor lubrication, dirty oil
