Renault DCI11 Engine Common Problems

1. Fuel system (Common Rail Bosch)

Injectors — wear of nozzles, leakage through copper washers, pressure drop.

High pressure fuel pump — wear of plungers, decreased performance, metal shavings in the system.

Fuel pressure sensor — incorrect readings, engine goes into emergency mode.

2. Turbocharging

Worn turbine bearings, oil leaks into the compressor part.

Air suction in the intercooler pipes (cracks, ruptures).

Loss of boost due to sticking of the bypass valve actuator.

3. Cooling system

Radiator or pipe leaks at high mileage.

Pump wear (shaft play, antifreeze leaks).

Intercooler and radiator clogged with dust/dirt, overheating under load.

4. Electrics and sensors

DPKV (crankshaft position sensor) is a common cause of engine stalling.

Coolant temperature sensor — incorrect data, false fan operation.

Breaks and oxidation of wiring harnesses at the bends between the cabin and the frame.

5. Lubrication system

Oil leakage through the valve cover gasket and crankshaft seals.

Coking of the oil separator, pressure increase in the crankcase.

6. Other

Vibrations at idle due to wear of the engine mounts.

Loss of power due to contamination of the intake manifold and EGR (on later versions).
