Scania DC09 – Main faults and weak points:

1. Clogged EGR system (if any)

Symptoms: Loss of power, increased fuel consumption, exhaust temperature error

Reason: Soot and oil accumulation in the EGR valve and cooler

Solution: Regular cleaning or disconnection (for non-certified purposes)

2. Wear of PDE unit injectors

Symptoms: Uneven engine operation, difficult starting, smoking

Reason: Aging PDE seals, fuel getting into the oil

Solution: Check injection pressure, replace seals or the injectors themselves

3. Errors in EMS (EEC3/EEC4/S6)

Symptoms: Emergency mode activation, error codes for sensors (temperature, pressure, NOx)

Reason: Damaged wiring, connector corrosion, software failures

Solution: Diagnostics with SDP3, ground check, firmware update

4. Clogged intercooler and radiator

Symptoms: Overheating, loss of power, limited speed

Reason: Lack of cleaning, especially in dusty/humid conditions

Solution: Cleaning the air ducts and radiator

5. Oil leak from under the valve cover or heat exchanger

Symptoms: Oil on the cylinder head, drop in level

Reason: Shrinkage of gaskets, deformation of the cover or housing

Solution: Replacement of gaskets, leak test

6. Failure of the fan viscous coupling

Symptoms: Overheating in traffic jams, fan noise

Reason: Failure of the temperature-sensitive element

Solution: Replacement of the coupling

7. Problems with the AdBlue / SCR system (Euro 6)

Symptoms: Limited power, dosing errors, ammonia smell

Reason: Crystallization of urea, contamination of the dispenser

Solution: Cleaning systems, replacement of components, especially in winter
