Typical Volvo Truck Error Codes and Causes

1. MID 128 - Engine (ECU)

PID 91 FMI 5 - Low fuel pressure

  • Clogged fuel filter
  • Faulty fuel pump
  • Leak in fuel line

 

PID 100 FMI 1 - High intake air temperature

  • Faulty intercooler
  • Clogged air filter
  • Turbocharger not working

 

PID 102 FMI 3 - Boost pressure out of range

  • Damaged boost hose
  • Faulty pressure sensor
  • Turbine is running unstably

 

2. MID 144 - Electronic brake system (EBS)

SID 1 FMI 12 - No communication with EBS unit

  • CAN bus fault
  • Damaged cable or connector
  • Faulty EBS unit

 

SID 231 FMI 9 - ABS error (one of the wheels)

  • Dirt or ABS sensor damage
  • Broken wire to the sensor
  • Damaged ring gear

 

3. MID 136 – I-Shift (electronic transmission)

SID 45 FMI 5 – Gear shift error

  • Insufficient pressure in the pneumatic system
  • Failure of the electric drive
  • Mechanical jamming inside the box

  • Problems in the CAN bus

4. MID 150 – SCR system (AdBlue)

  • Damaged wiring

 

5. MID 140 – VECU (on-board electronics)

PID 162 FMI 2 – Low voltage

  • Overload in power supply circuit
